Mr. Eugene Seah
Chief Operating Officer of the Baku International Sea Trade Port (Port of Baku), brings over 30 years of invaluable expertise in port management. With pivotal leadership roles at two strategic ports in Singapore - Vice
President of Jurong
Port and Regional Operations Manager of PSA Container Terminals - he excelled in managing terminals globally,
significantly enhancing operational excellence.
He played a crucial role in planning and implementing new port terminals in Pasir Panjang and Jurong Port while overseeing all facets of commercial and operational activities across general cargo, bulk, and container terminals. Throughout his distinguished career, Mr. Seah has been actively involved in projects of both national and regional significance, dedicated to enhancing safety standards and amplifying productivity in specific sectors within the port and logistics industry.
Since 2015, Mr. Seah has been serving as the COO of the Port of Baku, where he assumes a leading role in infrastructure expansion and systems development.
Additionally, he provides
oversight to operations and engineering, managing resource allocation, performance evaluation, and ensuring service excellence. Under his leadership, the Port of Baku has achieved remarkable milestones, including doubling its container and overall cargo throughput, showcasing a remarkable expansion in its operational capacity.
Furthermore, Mr. Seah leads digitalization and sustainability initiatives, actively seeking
innovative solutions to harness emerging energy sources such as solar and hydrogen. This forward-thinking approach aims to minimize the environmental impact of port operations.
Notably, the Port of Baku has launched a Climate Action Plan for 2035, earned certification from
the European Sea Ports Association (ESPO) for the first time in the region in 2019, and became
a part of the United Nations Global Compact to actively contribute to the global sustainability
agenda.
Mr. Seah holds a Bachelor of Science degree with Honors in Industrial and Organizational Psychology (1987-1990) from Massey University, New Zealand, and an MBA degree in Business
(1994-1995) from Leicester University, United Kingdom.
Mr. Seah has actively competed and achieved notable success in various sports including
Canoeing, Ironman triathlons, and golf.
